Burgess to make professional boxing debut

Former Leeds and South Sydney prop Luke Burgess will make his professional boxing debut later this month.

He will take on former Rabbitohs’ team-mate Beau Champion at The Big Top Arena, Luna Park Sydney on July 27.

Burgess has not played rugby league since leaving Salford at the end of last season.

The 32-year-old will now turn his attention boxing and will be signed to a promotional contract with Tasman Fighters should he defeat Champion in the heavyweight bout.

Nicknamed “The Biff”, Luke will have the support of his three brothers Sam, Tom and George at ringside with the fight live on Fox Sports Australia.
