Buchanan says Super League side’s players need to “look at themselves”

Leeds Rhinos’ play-off hopes are now abject at best.

It is not beyond them but losing to Castleford Tigers at the Magic Weekend hurt their season.

Speaking after the game on Sky Sports, Leeds legend Jamie Jones-Buchanan said they needed to “look at themselves” as he said the Tigers simply wanted it more:

“They just wanted it more. We saw it for the entire game, especially at the end the way they dragged James Bentley into touch, they just wanted it more.

“It was a big game, a West Yorkshire derby and a major win for the Castleford Tigers.”

The seven time Super League Champion also air his frustrations at the fact the Rhinos are not fulfilling their potential:

“They are consistently inconsistent and it is frustrating because whenever you see it individuals or groups of people not fulfilling their potential, that is what upsets you.

“If you’re not good enough, you’re not good enough that’s fair enough but when you are not realising your potential, that is frustrating.

“We saw Catalans do it and destroy Wigan Warriors, we see Salford Red Devils go beyond what people think is their potential.

“It is frustrating to see Leeds not do that most weeks.”
