A number of clubs like Leeds Rhinos, Hull FC and Huddersfield Giants have been targeting halfbacks for the 2024 season and whilst some have already done their business whilst others are still in the market.
It would seem Leigh Leopards have their target in mind as they have been named front runners to sign Brodie Croft, the reigning Man of Steel, for the 2024 season as per Sky Sports’ Jenna Brooks.
But other clubs could still hijack the move with Brooks also revealing that other clubs are interested.
Who these clubs are remain to be seen and for now Leigh lead the way.
As they look to kick on, Leigh look set for huge signings in general as Adrian Lam said on YouTube:
“I think we’ve done reasonably well. Still going, as every club is, and I think when the times right those players will be announced. I’m just really happy and grateful for the current squad, we’ve had a lot of changes this year, I think we’ve got the smallest squad in the Super League.
“I think we’ve changed something like 16 players that have been new to the club this year and we’ll continue to rotate those players and get the right ones in until we’re in a position where we’re the top two continuously.
“The club’s in a very great position to be able to negotiate and talk to other players. It’s different to what we were in last year where we still haven’t won the championship and trying to negotiate contracts and recruits for the Super League; but it’s been a little bit easier in this process, and it’s ongoing on a week-to-week basis.”
However, there has been talk that Leigh could lose Ben Reynolds to a shock move to Featherstone Rovers.
This would explain the interest in Croft. Lam said on this:
“Yeah, I think it’s been ongoing here with Ben and obviously clubs outside of Leigh have come in and negotiated with him. We’re continuing to talk to him about that and no doubt some sort of decision will be made either way in the next couple of weeks.
“It’s ongoing. It’s in the hands of Chris Chester and the management of Ben Reynolds. Ben’s done some great things for us this year, and him as a player at this club over the last two years have been phenomenal.
“He certainly has played a massive part in who we’ve become in the last two years and he’s an important part of our squad, especially with the finals coming up too. This needs to get sorted either way so that we can get some clarity into his head.”
