Brisbane Broncos and the Dolphins are locked in a battle for England international centre Herbie Farnworth.
The Daily Telegraph’s Brent Read reported on Triple M that a decision on Farnworth’s future is expected soon with the two powerhouse clubs set to go head-to-head for the signature of one of the most talented youngsters in the NRL, despite the attention of Super League suitors too.
“Herbie wanted to get through the first month or so and that is up now,” Read said on Triple M.
“Herbie has had a bit of a disrupted pre-season. He had a few health issues I think leading into the season.
“The Broncos were keen to get a deal done. Herbie said, look I just want to wait a month or so and play some footy.
“In that time the clubs in for Herbie have expanded. The Dolphins are right in there for him.
“They have offered him the opportunity to play right centre.
“He plays left centre at the Broncos but his preference is to play right centre, which is where Kotoni plays.
“The Dolphins have said if you come to us you can play right centre. Whether that is enough to get him away from the Broncos I’m not sure.
“But now that four rounds are up I would expect some movement on Herbie Farnworth in the next couple of weeks.
“The Broncos want to keep him and I think they are optimistic they will keep him. He has shown what he can do and he has played pretty well for the Broncos this year.”
