Brisbane Broncos call upon Wimbledon winner’s coach to change the club’s mindset

Since their inception, Brisbane have relentlessly pursued success but it’s now 15 years since they last won the NRL.

That Premiership along with other five won by the club since 1992 all came under the stewardship of Wayne Bennett as did their last NRL Grand Final appearance in 2015 when Bennett returned to the club.

Now under former skipper Kevin Walter who helped lead Bennett’s side to glory in 2000, the club are desperate to return to the top after picking up a first wooden spoon in 2020 before finishing 14th last year.

In their ambition to return to the play-offs they’ve signed star halfback Adam Reynolds from South Sydney after he helped the Rabbitohs to the Grand Final last year. But they’ve now taken an unusual approach in calling upon a coach from outside rugby league to help evolve their mindset.

As revealed by The Courier Mail in Australia, Brisbane have brought in the services of mindset coach Ben Crowe who has worked with the likes of Tiger Woods, wheelchair tennis star Dylan Alcott and  tennis world number one Ash Barty.

Barty has excelled at both singles and doubles since making her open debut at 15 winning the US Open doubles in 2018 and winning Wimbledon as recently as this year and is currently the world number one despite once giving up the sport.

Crowe worked with her during her accession to the top of the world rankings but now at Brisbane to hopefully inspire them back to glory, Crowe has been tipped for success by Barty who told News Corp that she believes he will bring a lot of the NRL: “Crowey is incredible. He is a master of his trade and I put so much trust in him. I think he will do great things with whatever team or sport he is surrounded by.

“I don’t watch a lot of NRL but I am sure he has a lot to offer.”
