Toronto Wolfpack playmaker Ryan Brierley hopes his move to the third tier club from Huddersfield Giants hasn’t hampered his chances of making the Bravehearts squad.
Brierley made a name for himself at Leigh Centurions before making the switch to Super League’s Giants.
However, things didn’t work out quite as planned in West Yorkshire and former coach Paul Rowley soon came knocking for Brierley’s services. The Scotland international now hopes he will get a chance to shine on the World Cup stage, despite his move down the leagues.
“I hope dropping to leagues down with Toronto hasn’t affected my chances,” he told the Scotland website.
“I know Steve {coach McCormack} has had players from that division in the squad before. Whether I can perform at that top level is down to Steve.
“I just hope he sees what I’ve done in the past and knows what I can offer him and I can get on that plane to Australia.
“If I don’t make the squad I will need to know what I need to get better and get back in that team.”
