Tonight is a big night in Super League.
After the season got off to a fantastic launch last night as Warrington Wolves turned on the style against Leeds Rhinos, Leigh make their return t Super League today against the entertainers from last year the Salford Red Devils.
It is their first competitive game since they were rebranded as the Leopards and comes with some major entertainment alongside the on field stuff.
The club have made some massive signings ahead of the new season including the likes of Zak Hardaker and Ricky Leutele.
But will that be enough to see them avoid the drop?
Sky Sports pundit Brian Carney spoke to Talksport and gave an interesting verdict on their chances in 2023:
“He [owner Derek Beaumont] must be doing well at work, he’s spent some money on this club. He’s brought in Ricky Leutele, Zak Hardaker and he’s spared no expense in making sure that they’re not scrapping at the bottom of the table.
“It will be a big challenge for them to not just avoid relegation but avoid that scrap down near the bottom of the table.”
So Carney believes the Leopards will find it a challenge keeping away from the bottom.
He also gave his honest opinion of Beaumont:
“He’s going to start with a bang tomorrow, Scouting For Girls, he’s paid a huge amount of money to get them to open up the season at the Leigh Sports Village as they take on Salford.
”With Derek you’ve got to take the rough with the smooth and there’s plenty of entertainment in that man.”
