Tonight, Hull FC went down 19-18 in a brilliant, topsy-turvy game against Wigan Warriors.
It went down to the wire with Harry Smith nailing a drop-goal with just under two minutes to go.
For Hull head coach Brett Hodgson, it was disappointing and he pinpointed a number of areas where he wanted his side to improve.
“We are a little bit disappointed, I think it was a high-quality game, but there were moments in that game when an individual – Jai Field – hurt us,” Hodgson said on Sky Sports following the game.
“I can’t complain about our boys’ efforts but unfortunately we just weren’t good enough.”
Hodgson was also full of praise for Joe Lovodua in particular following a spectacular performance once more.
“He was very good again, he’s been good for a number of weeks now. we had players turned up ready to go but we just weren’t good enough in the 80 minutes.
“We missed opportunities and we lacked composure in the back end.
“That game was there for the win but we just weren’t good enough for the win and we needed to build pressure.”
