Hull FC were able to overcome Catalans Dragons at the MKM Stadium tonight, 14-8.
It was a truly gritty performance with the Black and Whites failing to score in the second-half, but doing enough in defence to keep Catalans to just one try in either half.
And, for head coach Brett Hodgson, he was overjoyed with the result in what has been a difficult period.
“I thought the contest was excellent considering it was such a short period for both teams,” Hodgson said on Sky Sports.
“They’ve had bad luck with injuries but I thought our boys implemented the game plan really well – they completed really high.
“When we went three games without getting a result, the effort was there and I knew with more clinical finishing we would have given ourselves any chance to win.”
Hodgson also commented on Josh Reynolds who was left out by the Hull boss on Easter Monday after falling foul to illness and injury.
“I’m happy with Josh Reynolds and I thought he was instrumental in our performance tonight.”
Hull will host Toulouse Olympique next weekend for yet another French clash.
