Brett Hodgson dismisses concerns about short turn around with Leeds Rhinos waiting after Castleford Tigers fixture

Today Brett Hodgson’s Hull FC come up against Castleford Tigers.

The Black and Whites will no doubt be the favourites having won two of their opening three putting 48 points on Salford last time out.

Meanwhile, Castleford come into the game on the back of three defeats leaving Lee Radford desperate to turn things around.

The former Hull FC boss will be up against his former club for the first time since he was given his marching orders in March 2020 despite delivering two Challenge Cups to the club.

So, the fixture certainly has all the makings of a good game, but for Hull FC this fixture isn’t the only thing they have to worry about with Leeds Rhinos waiting on Thursday after a short turn around.

The Rhinos picked up a first win of the season this Thursday with Ash Handley scoring a hat-trick in a 34-18 win over Wakefield. They’ll have had seven days of rest by the time Hull arrive at Headingley whereas Hull will only have four days to recover from their game at the Jungle today.

However, Brett Hodgson has dismissed these concerns at this stage with his focus fully on Castleford today.

In a video posted on Hull FC’s Twitter today, Hodgson said: “We’re aware of the Leeds turn around obviously but we’re not thinking about it at this stage.”

He also noted that Castleford could be “desperate” and therefore more dangerous: “It’s important that we back up a pretty good performance with a performance against another team who are going to be desperate. We know where Cas sit at the moment.

“I’m looking forward to a response after a very good 80 minutes we want another good 80 minutes and backing that up.”
