BREAKING: Hull FC’s Leeds Rhinos loanee Jack Walker given heartbreaking diagnosis

The worst fears have been confirmed for Hull FC’s Leeds Rhinos loanee Jack Walker.

The fullback – who limped off during the Black and Whites’ loss to St Helens last weekend – will be out for the rest of the season, as will Darnell McIntosh.

“Both are substantial,” Hodgson told BBC Humberside. “Jack has a syndesmosis injury which I believe requires an operation for him. I’m absolutely gutted for the boy. He’s a great kid.

“He’s just had a baby girl on Wednesday too so it’s bittersweet for him, but unfortunately he’s played his last game for us this season.

“Darnell is a potential lisfranc; we haven’t confirmed that but the signs aren’t looking great.

“We don’t know the entire extent of it at the moment, but again, I wouldn’t think he’ll feature again this year.”

What that means for Walker’s future is uncertain at present with his deal at Leeds ending at the end of the 2023 Super League season.

Hull are in a bit of a rut recently with a dismal 60-6 drubbing by St Helens last week epitomising how far Brett Hodgson’s side still has to go as they go up against Wakefield Trinity tomorrow night.

Meanwhile, Wakefield eased their relegation fears with a big 30-12 win over second placed Wigan Warriors.
