Bradford sign Castleford utility

Bradford Bulls have announced the signing of former Castleford Tigers utility back Jack Sanderson for the 2021 season.

The 22-year-old was at Hull FC before going on to feature for Daryl Powell’s side, where he made three Super League appearances, scoring one try.

Sanderson can feature in any position along the back line, adding further strength in depth for John Kear in 2021.

He told the club website: “I am really happy to be here, already after the first session I felt welcomed by all the players and staff and having spoken to John about the aspirations of the club it really sold the move to me.

“I want to be a part of Bradford’s journey and cement my place in the team here, it has been a few years since I have strung some regular games together and I want to be able to help the club get back into Super League.

“I can bring a lot of pace on the edges and can cover anywhere from 1 to 5. I am a confident player and that will come with a run of games in the side, it will be good to finally get out in front of the Bradford fans so they can see what I can do in person.”

Head Coach Kear added: “I am absolutely delighted – Jack is a player who spent time at Doncaster and has also got Super League experience with Hull FC and Castleford and I always thought he was pretty good.

“When we spoke to Jack and his agent I jumped at the chance to bring him in – I know full well he sees this one-year deal as an opportunity to earn a longer-term stay.

“He can play 1-5 and can also kick goals so there is a number of plus points with bringing in a player like Jack – he adds further competition for a starting jersey.”
