Bradford Bulls youngster makes switch to Championship club

Bradford Bulls youngster Alfie Leake has made the move to the Championship on a season-long loan.

Leake will spend the 2026 season with West Yorkshire outfit Hunslet, with the 19-year-old expected to make his senior debut as a professional in the coming weeks. The 19-year-old is a product of the Bradford academy and penned a long-term deal with the club last season which runs until 2028.

As such, he’s clearly highly rated at Odsal and the Bulls will be watching his progress closely as he makes the move to the South Leeds Stadium.

Bradford so have a recall option on the loan, meaning they could bring him back into their environment at any time. But, he’ll be keen to build on a pre-season in which he represented Kurt Haggerty’s side at Doncaster in a trial contest.

“Alfie is a young, raw kid with plenty of potential and that’s why Bradford tied him down for three years,” Hunslet director of rugby Keith Senior said. “In my time at Bradford I saw him play a friendly against Keighley and he scored a try.

“He has good awareness and strength, but was hampered by a few injuries last season. He has had a good off-season so we are looking forward to him pushing for a spot in the team and showing us all his ability.”

Leake could make his debut for Hunslet this weekend when Kyle Trout’s side travel across the Pennines to face Salford RLFC. And, having seen Hunslet lose their opening Championship game of the season against Dewsbury Rams, the youngster will be keen to help the club pick up their first league win of the year.
