Bradford Bulls have moved back home to their natural habitat of Odsal after sharing Dewsbury Rams’ Tetley’s Stadium for a period of time.
However, that move home has also coincided with some pitch issues with the width often becoming a focal point for the home side and visiting teams.
It’s perhaps no surprise, therefore, that Bradford have been more successful away from home with big wins at Dewsbury, London Broncos and Workington Town all coming away from Odsal.
And, Bradford halfback Jordan Lilley has bemoaned the size of the pitch, stating it hinders the Bulls’ ability to play expansive rugby league.
“I don’t like to blame the pitch too much, but it’s only 55 metres wide,” Lilley told the Telegraph and Argus.
“We found against Barrow that trying to shift it, you end up on the sidelines and teams can control that.
“It’s never going to be an expansive, really good game on here, it’s one for the middles.
“I see fans saying we play boring rugby, and that we need to throw the ball, but it’s hard on there.
“We’ve got a lot of home games though, so we need to find a way to win on this pitch.
“Hopefully we can fix it up against Featherstone, because we’ll need to be nine out of ten to even get near them.”
Bradford take on Featherstone Rovers tonight at Odsal, live on Premier Sports.
