One of Bradford Bulls’ stalwart players has committed himself to the club for the 2026 season.
Hooker Sam Hallas, 28, came through Leeds Rhinos’ youth system and made four substitute appearances in 2016-17 before moving to Bulls, where he previously had a stint on loan.
He had a brief spell with Newcastle in 2022, but returned to Bradford that year and then spent the 2023 season at Hunslet. He joined Bulls for the third time ahead of last term, on a two-year deal.
Hallas, who has scored 22 tries in 154 games for Bradford, said: “I’m buzzing, it’s a deal I wanted to get done as soon as possible and as soon as I got word they wanted to keep me, I was excited.
“Jason [Hirst, Bulls’ chief executive] and Nobby [coach Brian Noble] have been brilliant with it. I spoke to Jason a lot, we managed to get it done and I’m excited to see what the future holds.
“My time here since I first joined has been, I think it’s fair to say, a rollercoaster, but I’ve loved every minute, every player I’ve played with and every player I’m yet to play with as well. It has been exciting, but I think the most exciting times are yet to come.”
Bulls finished third in the Betfred Championship this year and have applied to join Super League for 2026.

Hallas added: “Everything feels like it’s trending in the right direction so we’ll have to see where the club ends up, but on the field we’re doing everything we can.
“It was tough to miss out on the 1895 Cup, but hopefully we can go as far as we can in the play-offs.
“There’s no secret about it, the club wants to be a Super League club and I think it has been the case all the time I’ve been here.

“I just want to carry on doing everything I can to help us get there and as long as we can keep playing well on the field, we’ll give ourselves every chance.
“I was a Bradford fan growing up and I’m not getting any younger, so as long as I keep pulling this shirt on I’ll keep doing everything I can for it.
“I don’t want to be anywhere else and this club means the world to me. It’s a really special club and every 80 minutes I play, I’ll give it everything I’ve got.”
Noble paid tribute to Hallas, saying: “It’s important you keep some muscle memory and DNA of this place and there is no finer example of that than Sam Hallas.
“When Sam is on, he’s as good as any player we have got and he knows that. It’s exciting for him and the club we have retained his services.”
