Bradford Bulls re-sign star who initially turned down ‘lucrative contract’

Bradford Bulls have re-signed one of their overseas stars from 2024 in a major U-turn move following his initial exit.

Zac Fulton has inked a two-year deal with the Odsal club as he commits until the end of the 2026 season, however, he had previously exited the club after turning down what Bradford Bulls dubbed as a ‘lucrative contract extension’.

Having joined in March, Fulton would star throughout the season and tallied 12 tries in his first 14 games but declined a new contract from the club.

The Australian was one of 14 to leave the club at the end of the 2024 season but Bradford’s statement specifically noted that the 23-year-old had been ‘offered a lucrative contract extension but will be heading back to Australia’.

Just six weeks removed from that and the club have now confirmed that Fulton has re-signed to represent the Bradford Bulls for the 2025 and 2026 seasons in a major boost for the club.

It is a massive boost for Bradford Bulls to bring Fulton back given the immense impact he had in 2024 with the Australian adding to an already packed squad.

The Bulls have raided Super League sides as well as rival clubs to build a squad that looks set to contend as well as re-appointing Brian Noble as their head coach.

Announcing Fulton’s deal, a club statement read: “Bradford Bulls are delighted to announce Zac Fulton has signed a two-year deal – which will see him rejoin the club until the end of the 2026 season.

“The talented back-row forward made 26 appearances in his inaugural year in the red, amber and black, playing a key role in the Bulls’ two semi-final appearances throughout the year.”

Noble reacted to the signing, stating: “I am really pleased, everyone saw he didn’t miss many games last year and he added to our mix. People might not know he is an outstanding young man, who is good fun and understands the game of Rugby League, including where to run as a back rower. The rest of the players liked him, the fans liked him and I like him, so it is brilliant to get him back on board.

“We are knocking together a squad that has some experience at the highest level, to climb the mountain you need to know how to climb the mountain and play at that level and Zac falls into that category.

“We will all be judged by our effort areas and attitude as they are the main criteria for building a squad but he adds to us in both areas, he is a good human being and he understands the game, where to run and how to run.

“We are all working hard to get better, my criteria is to make improvements each week and understanding that you can improve as an individual and collectively as units. You have to be committed to improving and getting better everywhere we can and he certainly ticks that box.”
