Bradford Bulls have continued their squad building for 2025 and signed a Leeds Rhinos player for the upcoming season.
The Championship outfit have made a host of signings for the upcoming campaign with the squad almost locked in but they’ve found space to sign Leeds Rhinos hooker Mason Corbett.
Corbett will arrive at Odsal on a one-year deal as the latest signing for new head coach Brian Noble, who was appointed last week in a move that sees him return to the Bulls 18 years after he last coached them.
Noble leading the Bulls in 2025 was one of the big reasons for Corbett signing as the hooker noted the history of the club but also his potential development under the former Great Britain hooker Noble.
“I’m buzzing, all I can think about is the club’s heritage and working under Brian [Noble] is an exciting prospect,” the 18-year-old explained in a club statement.
“With Brian having played at hooker it is really exciting news for me, when me and my family found out he was returning as head coach we were buzzing. There’s so much knowledge I can take from him to add to my own game.”
Leeds Rhinos hooker signs for Bradford Bulls
Corbett made 18 appearances at both Academy and Reserve grade level for Leeds Rhinos in 2024 but his first-team minutes came during the pre-season game against Bradford.
He’ll be eager to get out on the field again for 2025 but is aware of the hookers ahead of him, claiming he’ll learn from both men.
Corbett noted: “In Mitch [Souter] and Tyran [Ott] there are two really good players I can learn from and that is something a lad my age needs to do. I need to tap into the older lads and gain from their knowledge, it is a real boost to have them around me.
“I am eager to get going, I pride myself in being a confident player and I have come from a position as captain in the Academy at Leeds so I am excited to get to know the lads and prosper next season.”
Brian Noble was full of praise for the signing, even claiming he was ‘surprised’ when Leeds Rhinos confirmed that they were releasing Corbett but Leeds’ loss is Bradford’s gain.
The Bulls coach admitted: “I was surprised when Leeds announced they were releasing him, in discussions with Eamon before he left we thought he would be a good acquisition.
“We see him in the same line as people like Eliot Peposhi, who we had a lot of success with and have a lot of time for, so Mason will only add to the bright prospects of the club moving forward, so I am thrilled he has agreed to come and join us.
