Bradford Bulls have released a statement to their fans in regard to the announcement yesterday evening regarding their ‘Levelling up Bid’.

The statement was posted on their website and expressed the disappointment but lack of shock at the decision.

It read as follows.

“It goes without saying that we are disappointed with the decision, but not entirely surprised. It has certainly not diminished our resolve to provide the club, its supporters, and the city with the appropriate modern facility that they are deserving of.

“This is a setback but categorically not the end of the road. We await formal communication and an explanation from the City of Bradford Metropolitan Council about their proposed next steps in regenerating the South Bradford gateway including the former Richard Dunn Sports Centre and the world famous Odsal Stadium.

“The only real failure is giving up and we are not about to do that.”

The Bulls were responding to the fact that their reported £50 million bid to redevelop their iconic Odsal Stadium had the brakes slammed on due to the government failing to award the club funding.

Other bids to develop or redevelop areas were also rejected with Odsal being one of four that failed to secure government funding.

Despite the setback the club are clearly defiant in regards to the decision as exemplified by their statement.

A key line reads: “This is a setback but categorically not the end of the road.”

They finished that statement with the impactful words: “The only real failure is giving up and we are not about to do that.”
