Bradford Bulls head coach John Kear fumes after Championship loss

Bradford Bulls head coach John Kear has slammed his side’s performance after the Bulls fell to a 28-14 defeat to Sheffield Eagles.

The Eagles eventually ran out 28-14 winners with a late Izaak Farrell penalty adding the gloss on a superb victory for Mark Aston’s men.

Bradford will fancy their chances of getting in the Championship play-offs in 2022 with John Kear’s men possessing the likes of Dec Patton and Rhys Evans.

But, they will have to buck up their ideas following a poor result at home as Sheffield turned up the heat with Anthony Thackeray, Vila Halafihi and Ross Oates among the try-scorers.

“Our attitude was abysmal, it was diabolical, it was completely unacceptable,” Kear told West Yorkshire Radio Rugby League.

“We have disrespected the opposition and we have got what we deserved. We have embarrassed ourselves.”

In other scores, Halifax Panthers kept London Broncos scoreless at The Shay 28-0, as Batley Bullogs overcame Newcastle Thunder 32-14.

Barrow Raiders won the Cumbrian derby 18-4, Widnes Vikings thrashed Workington Town 68-18 and York City Knights kept Dewsbury Rams tryless to put in a 30-2 victory.

Featherstone Rovers and Leigh Centurions will go head-to-head at the Millennium Stadium tomorrow night in what is one of the most anticipated Championship fixtures in recent seasons.
