Bradford Bulls confirm their Championship fixture has been called off due to Odsal’s waterlogged pitch

Bradford Bulls can today confirm Sunday’s game against Barrow Raiders has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Despite the best efforts of their grounds team in the midst of Storm Dudley and Storm Eunice, the pitch has been deemed to be unplayable following an official RFL Pitch inspection this afternoon.

Details regarding a date for the rearranged fixture will be communicated in due course. All tickets purchased for this weekend’s game will be valid for the rearranged date.

The club posted on Twitter: “Bradford Bulls can today confirm Sunday’s game against Barrow Raiders has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.”

The Bulls have won just once in the second tier in 2022, with defeats to Sheffield Eagles and Leigh Centurions consigning them to tenth in the Championship table.

Halfback Dec Patton has been one of Bradford’s most impressive signings and he previously revealed just why he chose Bradford after spending seven seasons at the Warrington Wolves – where he made over 100 appearances – and a year at the Salford Red Devils, revealing how feeling ‘wanted’ was the key.

“John Kear was a big factor in the move, he’d been after me a few times in my career and I’d stayed at Warrington, but he’s made me fall back into love with the game,” Patton told West Yorkshire Radio Rugby League.

“It came to a point where I was going to be a squad player for another side but then John came along and he sold Bradford to me.

“It’s nice to be appreciated for once and for what player I can be.”

“I’ll be going out there and expressing myself, I’ve done some great stuff in my career but I’ve never been given this freedom with an adult team and I’m looking forward to playing every week.”

Their opponents for Sunday’s game at Odsal, Barrow, currently have three wins from three and remain unbeaten in the league so far this season.
