Barrow Raiders have been the surprise package in rugby league this year.
Many felt the newly promoted club would be cannon fodder for relegation but the Raiders started the season in superb form and were unbeaten in the league until last week when they lost to Batley.
They needed a response but it was going to be difficult against the playoff chasing and inform Bradford Bulls and the two sides served up a classic fitting of the occasion.
After Dec Patton had levelled the scores at 22-22 after the Bulls had battled back from being 18 points down, it was former Bulls hero Jarrod Sammutt who won the game for the Raiders with a drop goal breaking Bradford hearts.
Patton did have a chance to level it with a drop goal in the last minute but missed.
There were tries from Chester Butler and Matty Dawson-Jones for Bradford as well as former Super League Grand Finalist Gary Wheeler for Barrow but it was all about Sammutt who kicked five goals alongside his drop goal to give the Raiders victory despite scoring less tries.
