Bradford add experienced prop for Super League push

Bradford have announced the signing of Welsh international Ben Evans on a two-year deal.

The 28-year-old will team up with twin brother Rhys Evans in John Kear’s roster – and will don the red, amber and black for a second time following a short spell in 2013.

Welsh international Evans boasts Championship and Super League experience following spells at London Broncos, Toulouse Olympique and Warrington Wolves.

And the forward is hoping that experience can help Kear’s side in 2021 – starting with a mouthwatering season opener at Sheffield Eagles.

“Coming over with Rhys [Evans] today has brought back some good memories from the last time I was here and I am looking forward to getting started,” said Evans.

“I will bring some experience to the side and try help the boys by doing what I can do help out with what I know.

“I have worked with John for the last couple of years now – I know him well on and off the field and I am looking forward to working with him and the strong squad he has built.

“Hopefully I can start training this week and do what I can to earn a place in the squad for Sheffield a week on Sunday.”

Head coach Kear believes Evans’ arrival represents a statement of intent for the year ahead – insisting he will become a very important player in the red, amber and black.

“I am really pleased – fortunately we were in the right place at the right time with Ben and with Sam’s injury we moved very quickly and Ben is a very good signing and a statement of intent,” said Kear, who is sponsored by Bradford Bulls Banter.

“He brings hard work, the ability to play long minutes and that is what we need at this moment in time – he will be very important to us.

“His profile fits very well into what we require now and what we require going forward because it is a two-year deal.

“I would like to thank the Bradford Bulls Squad Booster Association for their contribution to getting the deal done.”
