Brad Dwyer finds new club as ex-Leigh Leopards, Leeds Rhinos and Hull FC man joins Championship outfit

Leigh Leopards

Former Leigh Leopards hooker Brad Dwyer has found a new club on the eve of the season, it has been confirmed.

Dwyer was released by Leigh at the end of the 2025 season after spending two seasons in leopard print under the tutelage of Adrian Lam.

However, despite boasting a vast amount of Super League experience, the 32-year-old spent most of pre-season without a club before being picked up this morning on a one-year deal.

That deal is with phoenix outfit Salford RLFC with the hooker penning a permanent deal with the new club in the Championship. Salford have been very busy when it comes to recruitment over the last couple of weeks in an effort to get ready for Friday’s season opener with Oldham but Dwyer is by far the biggest name they have landed so far.

Dwyer spent a short amount of time on loan with the Red Devils last season before the club was liquidated and in his only appearance he did manage to get over the line.

He’ll be hoping to have a similar impact this season at the Salford Community Stadium, as he joins what is an inexperienced side.
Salford have now managed to recruit a full squad but most of those who have joined are youngsters who spent time in the Red Devils’ youth and reserves set up last season. As such, experience and nous is in short supply.

They have signed some more experienced names, with the likes of Liam Cooper and Will Tilleke joining the club, while four players have been brought in from Super League club Leigh on one-week loans this week with Nathan Wilde, Ryan Brown, Will Brough and Oliver Polec being drafted in.

However, none of those have the experience Dwyer does and he’ll be a key man this year as the club look to get off the ground and find some traction in the second tier. The number nine has more than 300 appearances under his belt and a large majority of those outings have come in Super League.

Starting his career at Warrington Wolves, Dwyer made 88 appearances in primrose and blue before joining Leeds Rhinos where he played 121 times. A move to Hull FC followed before a short spell back at the Halliwell Jones Stadium led to a move to Leigh.

Leigh will not be the same side without him, he caused havoc to teams when he came on. understand it was a clash with manager that he was forced to go. anyway a very good signing for salford.
