Brad Arthur makes admission on Leeds Rhinos future for 2025

Leeds Rhinos head coach Brad Arthur has explained that there is ‘no reason for him to rush out of the club’ as he explains he is open to coaching at Headingley in 2025.

Those comments came after he watched his side defeat Huddersfield Giants 34-6 in the first win for the club since he took charge with the victory keeping the Rhinos’ playoff hopes alive.

Arthur also spoke about those playoff hopes and how realistic it is for Leeds Rhinos to make the top six, a feat that they failed to do in 2023 under former coach Rohan Smith.

With six of their eight remaining games against teams higher in Super League than them, it marks an incredibly difficult task but also a set of fixtures where they can dent their rivals’ hopes, starting next week when they face Salford Red Devils.

If Leeds Rhinos were to make the playoffs and potentially make a push for Old Trafford then it would surely go a long way to convincing the 50-year-old Australian to remain in England, something he has now once again conceded is a possibility.

Asked again about his plans for 2025 and if they include Leeds Rhinos, Arthur told the media: “I’m being honest with everyone all the way through. I’m open to possibly staying but at the moment I’ve come here to do a job and I need to make sure I’m doing that and focus on that week to week and where it takes us.

“But there’s no reason that I’d want to be in a position to rush out of the club. It’s a great club. I’m enjoying living here. It’s tough without my family being here. That’s hard. But if the players play like that and we win all the time, it’ll make it easier.”

A further boost to those hopes was his admission that he is ‘loving’ his time in England with the Australian praising the staff at the club.

“I love it. It’s good. I’m really enjoying it,” he explained.

“I think what I’m enjoying is the support and the level of help and understanding and everyone buying in, right from the players to the staff.

“Everyone’s sort of been over backwards to make me transition as easy as possible but it’s one win and we can’t get carried away. We’ve got a big couple of weeks coming up.”

It’s an important four weeks coming up for the club with their away trip to Salford Red Devils set to be followed by home games against champions Wigan Warriors and last year’s Grand Finalists Catalans, sandwiching an away trip to Warrington Wolves.
