Brad Arthur is not getting ahead of himself after Leeds Rhinos’ dominant win over Warrington Wolves with the Australian explaining that his side have another huge game next week.
After knocking off second-place Warrington 34-6 with ease, Leeds now turn their attention to a home game against Hull KR, who they hammered in Las Vegas earlier this year.
Asked post-match on Sky Sports if a win to open up a gap atop Super League was potentially season-defining, Arthur expressed calm as he responded: “Not at the moment. Every time you have a win, I feel like the next week becomes more important. We’ve got another big one again next week and what we’re trying to do at the moment is just be that team that is reliable.
“We’re slowly getting to a place where I know exactly what I’m going to get every week when we turn up. Now it’s just the reliability around the execution of our plan for a full 80 minutes.”
Despite being so dominant, Arthur also pointed to areas to improve, namely the period late in the game.
He said: “There are still a few things we’ve got to work on, mainly that last six to eight minutes but I thought physically we were very, very dominant. I thought our resilience was excellent.
“We just probably didn’t execute our plan as well as we would have liked, but that gives us something now to go away and look at and just to try and be a touch better, but I’m extremely happy with our start in terms of that resilience.”

Leeds Rhinos boss hails discipline in dominant win
Having spoken about his side’s physical dominance to help with the victory, Arthur confirmed that winning the physical battle was not even the main goal this week, but instead his side’s discipline in approaching an away game.
That’s come after last week’s showing in Toulouse where the Rhinos won with ease but still conceded 24 points, with the Leeds boss admitting: “We didn’t really talk about it (physicality) too much this week. We have a real massive focus on that at home. Like I said, this week was more around our professionalism and our discipline.
“Obviously the boys knew they were playing a very good opposition, so you can’t come and dip the toe in against the second-place team that’s done a great job so far.”
The win saw winger Maika Sivo score three more tries to move to 25 in Super League and when asked about the Fijian, Arthur said: “He’s great. He’s just good to have around the group, and straight away you come up to him with a bit of a chuckle and a smirk because he knows he bombed a try but he doesn’t do that very often.
“His effort areas is probably what’s impressed me the most. He’s worked really hard. He’s keeping himself around that 109 kilos, which allows him to be able to get more involvement for us.”
