Mets new training schedule opens door for new players

Bolton Mets training

New training time and venue for Bolton Mets!

After using the excellent facilities at Essa Academy over the Winter we are now in a position to move training back to Greenhalgh’s Pavilion.

After receiving player feedback we will continue to train on Wednesday evenings but the sessions have been brought forward an hour to start at 7pm and finish at 9pm. This should hopefully help those players who have to get up early for work the following day and make it a more exceptable time for any newbies.

Having the training sessions on a Wednesday should also hopefully open the door for a few more Bolton RUFC players tempted to cross codes over the Summer and try Rugby League potentially for the first time. The two codes have their similarities and differences but we honestly believe that players switching codes can not only bring positives to the team but also take skills away with them that will benefit the other code.

It is not just Bolton RUFC players that are welcome at Bolton Mets, any Union players from far and wide would be more than welcome to join us and see what the sport of Rugby League is all about. Similarly, we always want to attract new players to the club who may not have any experience of a contact sport such as Rugby League but who want to give it a go and try their hand at something new. Everyone is encouraged to get in touch if you want to join the club.

Training at Greenhalgh’s Pavilion (Bolton Rugby Club, Avenue Street, BL1 3AW) starts at 7pm on Wednesday 5th April, if it is your first time then please ask for Al Scarbrough (Head Coach) and he will soon have you settled in. We train on grass so boots would be beneficial, we also have full contact tackling on occasion so a gum shield may be needed.

Come down and see what Bolton Mets is all about, we’re a family orientated club who enjoy plenty of laughs along the way, so why not become a part of it?
