Ex-Super League halfback Blake Green has signed a one-year deal with Canterbury Bulldogs for 2021.
Green, who had spells in the UK with Hull KR and Wigan, recently signed with Newcastle until the end of the season and despite speculation that he would stay with the Knights next year, will now return to the club he played for in 2010.
The 33-year-old had started his Knights career in excellent form but has now been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a ruptured ACL.
Canterbury chief executive Andrew Hill said: “Having agreed to terms 3 weeks ago with Blake, we believe that we have secured an excellent player and someone who has performed well wherever he has played.
“We are confident that Blake will be able to bring a great deal of experience and leadership to our young group as an excellent game-manager.
“We feel that Blake will have a great impact on our squad next season, after undergoing a period of recovery around his current injury.”
