Blake Austin has sent a warning shot to the rest of Super League with a message to his soon-to-be halfback partner Aidan Sezer.
The duo excelled in the halves for Canberra Raiders back in the NRL and now they are older and wiser to do exactly the same in the northern hemisphere.
Austin has joined on a one-year deal from Super League rivals Warrington Wolves whilst Sezer has moved to Headingley on a two-year deal from Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Giants.
Whilst Sezer was at Canberra from 2016 to 2019, Austin was there 2015 to 2018, but the pair were well regarded for their ability to cut open defences as a team and individually.
With Luke Gale’s move to Hull FC confirmed, Austin will be number six and Sezer number seven with new signings James Bentley and David Fusitu’a also likely to start the new season in the first-team squad.
Austin posted a photo of the two when they were at Canberra, with the caption: “Not long now till I’m back with me little mate @aidansezer“.
