Blake Austin reveals where he wants to play after 2022

Blake Austin is now a Leeds Rhinos player, having signed a one-year deal at Headingley for the 2022 Super League season.

Austin, who spent three seasons with the Warrington Wolves after moving ahead of the 2019 season, will be linking up with former teammate at the Canberra Raiders, Aidan Sezer, with the latter having signed a two-year contract.

After recent trials and tribulations surrounding the move to the Rhinos in terms of moving house, Austin posted a heartfelt update on his social media.

In detailing his eight years away from his and his partner’s home town, the 30-year-old halfback then ended the post with news that will excite Leeds fans.

“P.S not homesick just reflecting and super exciting for Leeds chapter, and have the best intentions of it lasting longer than 12 months.”

Austin began his career at the Penrith Panthers, debuting in 2011 where he played just 15 times in three seasons before moving to Wests Tigers in 2014.

There, the halfback spent one season, registering 19 appearances.

It wasn’t until a move to Canberra ahead of the 2015 NRL campaign that Austin’s career took off, with almost 100 appearances for the Green Machine making rival and overseas clubs sit up and take note.

It was the Warrington Wolves who snapped up the rangy playmaker and he made 57 appearances until a move to Leeds in the off-season ended his time at the Halliwell Jones.
