Big opportunity for Super League clubs as duo seemingly available to loan

Leigh Leopards have a quality squad but perhaps not the depth of some of their rivals which makes injuries a problem but they have managed them well.

Coach Adrian Lam has given an injury update on Ben Nakubuwai, Jack Hughes and Joe Wardle:

“Ben will be included in the 21 this week and we’re going to give him right up until the captain’s run,” he said on the club’s YouTube channel

“He’s 50/50 at the moment so if there’s any doubt on that I’m not going to risk that purely with the time we’ve had off and what’s coming up ahead of us.

“It’ll be pretty much the same squad as we’ve had over the last couple of weeks.

“Jack Hughes is still three or four weeks away, we’ve got Joe Wardle that’s long term. That’s early July and apart from that it’s business as usual.”

He also confirmed that Aaron Smith and former Love Island star Keanan Brand are back training and suggested that the duo could go somewhere on loan:

“Aaron Smith is back in training all ready to go, it’s whether or not we include him in that squad or we try get him some game time elsewhere.

“Keanan Brand is available now. His load is up to a position where we think we can compete so he’s in the same position as Aaron in the sense of whether we play him.

“So those players are on the fringe at the moment, they probably need a little bit of game time so we’ll work closely with them on that.”
