Big name signings on their way to Leigh Centurions

Chris Chester has only been in the job around a fortnight, but as Head of Rugby of Leigh Centurions, he knows he will have his work cut out.

Chester takes the overseeing reins at the Leigh Sports Village as the Centurions prepare for the Championship after just one season in Super League.

But, the former Wakefield Trinity head coach is sure that he will be able to build a squad capable of earning promotion.

“I’m confident I can bring the right people, the right members of the staff and the right players to make sure we are in the Million Pound Game,” Chester said.

“I’ve been talking to agents, both here and overseas and there have been a lot of names thrown at us for obvious reasons.

“We are going to be full-time and some of the quality that has been offered has been very high.

“We are speaking on a daily basis and we’re hopeful that over the next couple of days we can get some announcements.

“I’ve enjoyed the first couple of weeks, I’ve had a few discussions with Derek (Beaumont – Leigh’s owner) and discussed certain things about the business.

“We’re going to prepare a squad that’s more than capable of getting promoted.”
