Big changes at Widnes Vikings as CEO steps down

Widnes Vikings have announced that CEO Phil Finney has left the club.

Phil explained: “After almost 14 years the time is right for me and my family to have a change and pursue new opportunities and challenges.

“As a Widnesian and lifelong fan, it has been a privilege to work for the club I have always supported and something I will always cherish.

“I would like to thank all of the supporters, players, staff and sponsors I have had the pleasure of working with over the years and wish the club all the very best in the future.”

Widnes Vikings Board of Directors have thanked Phil for his 14 years service with the club. They wish Phil well as he explores new opportunities in 2023.

There has already been plenty of change at Widnes ahead of 2023.

Mid-season in 2022 former Wakefield Trinity and Hull FC coach as well as two-time Challenge Cup winner John Kear joined the club.

He has now signed some big names such as four-time Super League Champion and former St Helens man Kyle Amor as well as Jordan Johnstone from Hull FC.

They begin their preparations for the 2023 season this weekend against Rochdale Hornets at home as Amor and Johnstone could be set to debut.
