Head Coach Paul Wellens has named a 33-man squad the last St Helens Pre-Season Friendly against Salford Red Devils on Sunday 4th February, which will kick-off at the Totally Wicked Stadium at 2 pm.

Whilst this upcoming game is a home fixture for St Helens, the reigning World Champions will be wearing for the first time the brand-new 24 Away Kit!

Their new strip is predominantly a deep black with a tonal grey pixel design to the front and back, as well as a red pixelated chevron design to the sides of the torso.

With the new Betfred Super League season now a fortnight away from commencing, Paul Wellens has named a strong squad to take on Paul Rowley’s men, with only seven of the 2024 First Team squad not part of the squad.

The Saints’ three recruits for the 2024 campaign are all in the squad declaration and could make their first appearances for the Club on Sunday, those men are; Waqa Blake, Daryl Clark, and Matt Whitley.

Jonny Lomax could lead out the side for the first time since being officially named as the new Club Captain.

Several players who faced Swinton Lions two weeks ago are also available for Sunday’s match with Academy graduates Dayon Sambou, Jonny Vaughan, and Noah Stephens named. As are members of our Reserves outfit; Brett Bailey, Harvey Braddish, Ciaran Nolan, Sam Oakes, Ben Will, and Academy players; Owen Dagnall, Harry Robertson, and George Whitby.

22 of the 33 players selected by Paul Wellens have either come through or are currently part of the St.Helens’ youth system.

Interestingly, Alex Walmsley misses the game after missing the England internationals through injury. Morgan Knowles is also absent. Unsurprisingly, Agnatius Paasi is absent after his long term injury.
