Bevan French returned to the Wigan Warriors side last night against Hull FC for the first time in 11 months.
The livewire fullback suffered a hamstring injury in 2021 and spent most of the year recovering in Australia as well as looking after his late mother before returning to the UK and Wigan last month.
Since then, French has stepped up his rehab and began training with his Warriors teammates in a bid to return sooner rather than later.
And, the former Parramatta Eels star was named on the substitutes’ bench by head coach Matt Peet last night before he made his way onto the field for the second-half in the absence of winger Liam Marshall.
French didn’t get too many touches in what was a fast and frenetic affair against the Black and Whites, but it was superb to see him back out on a rugby league pitch for the first time in 2022.
And, the Australian documented on Instagram just how happy he was to return for the Warriors: “Felt like an eternity not playing for 11months 🕸 Grateful to be back.”

French will want to play a part in Wigan’s Challenge Cup Quarter-Final clash with Wakefield Trinity next week.
