Bevan French is in red hot form at the moment and the Wigan Warriors star featured as a special guest on Sky Sports’ coverage of St Helens’ win over Warrington Wolves where he spoke about his side’s start to the season.
“It was a bit of a tough start for us, having a few tough losses early on and character wise we have responded really well,” he said.
“We have had a few tough things not go our way such as a few injuries to our spine and we seem to have turned it around purely based on effort so to assess our season so far we are really happy especially with the effort.”
Last year Wigan signed French up to a huge new deal despite huge NRL interest.
French admitted that he had a dream of returning to the NRL but it was nothing to do with not wanting to be at Wigan:
“Not at all. I have come to love my time here, I always have. I had the dreams and the ambitions of going back to the NRL but it wasn’t anything to do with not wanting to be here.
“I have loved my time here and Wigan make me feel welcome.
“It is a top Super League club and it is a privilege to be a part of, I am very happy I stayed here.”
He also revealed how he sees the game differently:
“I view it quite differently to most, I try to take out the physical side, I love sitting back and trying to read defensively and seeing what they are trying to do, I really enjoy studying defences.”
