This morning Workington Town and Halifax Panthers confirmed that their game would go ahead after a pitch inspection this morning from an RFL match official.
The game was scheduled to start at 14:00 as the Panthers looked to shake off a sluggish start and claim a second win of the season to get their promotion bid up and running whilst Workington were set to look for a first win of the campaign having been promoted last year.
However, now the game has been postponed much like Batley vs Sheffield and Bradford vs Barrow. The reason given on Halifax’s Twitter page is: “adverse weather and safety concerns” as decided by the Ground Safety Officer at Workington.
The club subsequently shared their apologises to those who may have already set off and have confirmed their intention to decide upon a new date as soon as possible.
WORKINGTON GAME OFF
Our game at Workington Town RLFC has been called off by the Ground Safety Officer due to concerns over the adverse weather and safety concerns.
Apologies to all supporters who have set off for the game. Details regarding a new date will be announced asap.

There is still one game today with two promotion chasing sides battling as York host Leigh in a huge battle. Tomorrow Dewsbury host Widnes in front of the Premier Sports cameras.
Yesterday Newcastle and Featherstone claimed wins at the expense of Whitehaven and London to get Round Four underway.
