Benji Marshall coming to the UK for surprise venture following retirement

Benji Marshall will be heading to the UK for a number of events where he will be guest speaker.

The events management company, MJK Sports Events based in Shipley, West Yorkshire, confirmed that the 36-year-old will be telling his story on his travels to the northern hemisphere.

A Wests legend, Marshall registered 346 appearances for the club in two spells following his debut in 2003, but now returns as an official club ambassador after hanging up his boots at the end of the 2021 NRL season.

The rugby league legend – who had one last swansong with the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2021 – endured something of a fractious ending to his Wests playing career which is why many people have called the return a shock, but couldn’t resist working alongside new director of football Tim Sheens.

“Wests Tigers and its fans have been part of my family for the majority of my career and I’m looking forward to continuing that journey together,” Marshall said in a club statement.

“This is an exciting new role that allows me to contribute to the club in a number of ways both on and off the field.

“I’m looking forward to helping grow the next generation of Wests Tigers players coming through our pathways and playing a part in bringing further success to this great club.”
