Westwood banned for Sutcliffe challenge

Ben Westwood has been banned for four matches and fined £300 for the late hit on Leeds Rhinos player Liam Sutcliffe.

The Warrington Wolves forward pleaded guilty to the Grade D Striking Charge that saw Sutcliffe sit out the whole of Friday night’s game.

Westwood will now miss a number of crucial games for the Wolves over the Easter period, including Thursday night’s Cheshire derby against Widnes Vikings.

In the other disciplinary hearing regarding Super League, Leigh Centurions forward Gareth Hock pleaded guilty to a Grade B foul and abusive language charge.

This has landed him a one game ban and £300 fine.

He will miss the Good Friday clash with Salford Red Devils at the AJ Bell Stadium.
