Barrow snap up Huddersfield prop

Barrow have confirmed the signing of Huddersfield prop Adam Walne on a two-year deal from 2021, whilst also re-signing his brother Jordan on a two-deal deal.

Adam Walne has spent the past nine years in Super League, making 75 appearances for Salford before joining the Giants in 2018.

He is no stranger to playing in Cumbria, having had two loan spells with Workington and one with the Raiders earlier in his career.

His younger brother, Jordan, joined Barrow last year and was a standout member of Paul Crarey’s squad.

“I’m entering a point of transition in my career earlier than I once would of thought,” said Adam Walne. “But I’m a big believer in following your path and trusting your inner compass and I have recently been faced with some difficult decisions regarding the direction of my future with various offers coming in.

“Having recently founded Raw&Outdoor conditioning club with my brother Jordan, which we set up to boost the population’s physical & mental health during a time of uncertainty surrounding the safety of exercising within closed indoor spaces, it’s been impossible for me to have the input and involvement in the business while being full-time with rugby.

“It’s very frustrating having loads of ideas and plans but not having any time to make them happen with full time rugby being so demanding it takes over your life.

“So I have decided that moving to part-time rugby for next season would be the smartest decision and that me and Jordan need to be on the same schedule to grow the business into what we want it to be for our long term future.

“Also to play alongside Jordan, which is something we both thought we might not get the chance to do again, would be too special to turn down.

“After hearing nothing but great things about everyone involved & connected with the club, Jordan put the club in contact with me and it became very clear after some good conversations with the chairman Steve Neale & coach Paul Crarey along with rugby director Andy Gaffney that signing at Barrow for the next 2 years was the right move for me and my family.”
