Barrow Raiders vs Wigan Warriors: Kick-off time and team news

Challenge Cup holders Wigan Warriors take the next step in their preparations for the new season today as they take on Barrow Raiders who finished fourth in the Championship last season.

The Warriors are gradually building into pre-season as they ready for the new Super League season as they hope to dethrone St Helens at the Super League summit.

Here’s everything you need to know about today’s game:

Kick-off time:

The game kicks off at 15:00 at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium.

Team News:

Wigan Warriors have named a 19-player squad for Sunday’s pre-season game against Barrow Raiders.

The Warriors Reserves Head Coach, John Winder, will take charge as Wigan travel to the Betfred Championship outfit at Craven Park Barrow.

This comes after academy coach John Duffy led the Warriors last week against Whitehaven as they won 22-14.

Winder has named a 19-player squad consisting of Academy, Reserves and first team players. Alex Sutton, Jacob Douglas and Logan Astley are all named once more after getting on the scoresheet against Whitehaven along with a number of stand-out players from the game.

Astley made his first team debut last year against Huddersfield Giants in the same game as Matty Nicholson who has since joined Warrington Wolves.

First team regulars Abbas Miski, Brad O’Neill, Joe Shorrocks, Kaide Ellis and Patrick Mago are also named in the travelling squad.

2022 was a break out season for Brad O’Neill as the hooker started the Challenge Cup Final in place of the then suspended Sam Powell.

Speaking of Powell, the Warriors’ next game and their chance to name a first team squad will come in his testimonial against Salford Red Devils.

The likes of Kaide Ellis and Patrick Mago also played a big part in Wigan’s 2022 success whilst Abbas Miski will want a bigger role in 2023 after he impressive in the outings he featured but Bevan French and Liam Marshall will be difficult to move of the wing.
