Unbeaten and defying the odds in the Championship, Barrow are rewarded with a visit from high flying Super League side Huddersfield Giants.
Under Ian Watson, things seem to be clicking for the Giants and they could very well be seen as a dark horse for Challenge Cup success in 2022.
As for Barrow, this is an exciting moment for the club and one they’ll relish. The way they’re playing they may even cause the Giants some problems.
Teams News:
Barrow have named a number of former Super League stars in their squad for tomorrow’s game including Josh Wood, Hakim Miloudi, Gary Wheeler and Jarrod Sammut. Meanwhile, the in form Tee Ritson is set to figure as well.
Huddersfield will of course be without the suspended Will Pryce who has been hit with a massive 10 match. There’s also still no Theo Fages whilst Chris McQueen won’t have the chance to add yet another try to his impressive tally in 2022 after not being included in Ian Watson’s 21-man squad. The same can be said of the in form Chris Hill as well. Sam Hewitt, who has impressed for the reserves this year, could play as could impressive young hooker George Roby.
Match Preview – Key Battles:
Tee Ritson vs Innes Senior: Scoring of some sublime tries so far this season, Tee Ritson and his teammates on the right have been impressive this season in the Championship and will cause the Giants problems. He’ll be up against Innes Senior who has had an impressive season for Huddersfield so far this season and has definitely improved this season.
Hakim Miloudi vs Ricky Leutele: Hakim Miloudi has been one of the best players in the Championship this season. The former Hull FC and Toronto centre has formed an unstoppable pairing with Tee Ritson and his power will cause Huddersfield problems. Meanwhile, a fellow former Toronto centre will be up against him. The two are both physical players and there could be fireworks down this side tomorrow.
Jarrod Sammut vs Olly Russell: One of Huddersfield’s best performers so far this season, Olly Russell has been rewarded with a new deal and will continue guiding the Giants attack in this fixture. He’ll be up against one of the most exciting players we’ve seen in this country. Jarrod Sammut is never short of a highlight and will test the Giants’ defence.
Where the game will be won and lost:
The Giants have had the tools to beat most Super League sides this season bossing the middle third routinely and showing attacking pedigree in the danger zones. It could be a long day for Barrow if the Giants bring their A game but the Raiders have routinely made top Championship sides struggle and are no strangers to points scoring. They could be a difficult opponent.
Score Prediction: Barrow Raiders 16-48 Huddersfield Giants
