Championship outfit Barrow Raiders have confirmed their shirt numbers for the 2025 season with a former Super League winner in the squad.
The Cumbrian outfit will be looking for an improved 2025 season after being dragged into a relegation fight in 2024 – narrowly escaping as they finished one point above the drop.
That’s despite former Super League winner Aaron Smith having a strong debut campaign in which he made 20 appearances and scored three tries for the Raiders.
Smith, who was part of the St Helens team that won the 2019 Grand Final against Salford Red Devils, signed with the Cumbrian side prior to the 2024 season after exiting from Leigh Leopards.
The experienced hooker was a mainstay for Leigh during their promotion season but was limited to just two games during their 2023 campaign back in Super League – having previously made 42 appearances in Super League, including in that 2019 Grand Final.
He is one of several former Super League players in the team including ex-Wigan Warriors prop Razor Silva, centre Matt Costello, forward James Greenwood and fellow hooker Josh Wood.
Of the club’s four new signings, two take shirt numbers inside the starting XIII with Ellis Robson (11) and Ryan King (13) both joining to help bolster the Raiders’ pack.
Meanwhile, Curtis Teare (18) and Alex Bishop (22) have also made a move to the Cumbrian side who boast a 23-man squad.
One of the interesting shirt number allocations is for Shane Toal, who will wear number five, with the winger taking on his third number in as many seasons – previously wearing four in 2024 and two in 2023.

After Whitehaven’s relegation in 2024, Barrow will be the only Cumbrian outfit in the Championship.
