Catalans Dragons have been awarded a controversial penalty try as they take the lead against League Leaders the Warrington Wolves.
The Dragons had just drawn level through Mike McMeeken and immediately broke down the left edge with back rower Paul Seguier.
He kicked inside with Adam Keighran waiting for the right bounce.
As he waited Ben Currie came across with what seemed like a terrific piece of play to denied a try.
However, Chris Kendall sent the decision up as a try to the video referee who deemed that Currie had taken Keighran out.
Barrie McDermott, commentating for Sky Sports was not impressed saying: “The try has been given but I am sorry I don’t agree with that.
“Currie is doing his job. He has got to do his job.
“I think he can feel hard done by there because all he is doing is his best to do his job.
“I am disappointed with that try, I think he is allowed to move around the player and not shove him off the ball.”
It was a great start from the Dragons.
Written off with so many players out the Dragons put Warrington under immense pressure forcing an immediate goal line drop out with some amazing defence.
After defending brilliantly on their line, Matt Dufty made a half break allowing the Wolves starting to move down field. Paul Vaughan charged forward later and on the back of that good passing from George Williams and Dufty set up a walk in for Josh Thewlis.
Alrix Da Costa looked like he was set to pull the French side level as he darted from dummy half but desperate Warrington defence dragged him back and as he reached for the line he dropped the ball.
Catalans did eventually hit back when Adam Keighran’s kick was patted back by Tom Davies to Mike McMeeken to score.
