Barrie McDermott has reiterated his belief that Leigh Leopards won’t get relegated.
This came on Sky Sports as the former Super League Champion reflected on Leigh’s win over St Helens last weekend ahead of St Helens’ clash with Hull FC tonight live on Sky Sports.
He said of Leigh’s win against the Saints:
“Jon Wilkin said he doesn’t believe in a hang over, well they have had a hang over for the last two weeks. They played well against Leigh but with the entertainment before the match and Derek’s birthday, it was too much.”
He would then reiterated that he does not think the Leopards will go down:
“I wasn’t in the camp that thinks they will go down and I’m still not. They beat the Champions!”
Recently, the mentioned Jon Wilkin explained why Saints lost to Leigh last week:
“I think discipline was partly to blame. I think one issue was the players they had missing after the bans from the week before and Matty Lees got yellow carded here.
“Discipline has been an issue for them but also St Helens didn’t get far enough from them when they had the chances and that allowed Leigh to sneak in and then the game became very twitchy.
“For me it was a case of St Helens not scoring enough points when they needed to but credit Leigh with how they came back.”
