Barrie McDermott reveals crazy amount of money he paid in fines to disciplinary panel

It’s Rivals Round and as part of the promotion for the fixture, Barrie McDermott has spoken on Sky Sports about his own rivalry in the days of Leeds Rhinos vs Bradford Bulls when he battled with Stuart Fielden.

McDermott’s battle with Fielden in the midst of a derby is what Rivals Round is all about and speaking on the Rhinos’ YouTube channel, he opened up about the rivalry with him:

“I didn’t win them all but I won more than I lost, but I always enjoyed that mano a mano aspect of it.

“The Bradford games there were a few that were that way out. Brian probably was not that way but Brian being Brian I had a few little exchanges with him.

“Stuart was probably the one that I had the most fun with and it’s good to look back on it now, but I enjoyed them. I’m not sure he’d say the same thing if you asked him.

“I remember playing in a semi-final and Adrian Morley and myself had put a little ring around his name, probably because he was the one we hadn’t got to at that point.”

These ultimately saw him pick up plenty of bans and fines.

Speaking on the Eddie and Stevo podcast, McDermott revealed just how many much money he paid in fines:

“19 times, 40 matches and £10,000 in fines. I could have had another extension on this house.”
