One Super League forward is making waves in the competition following a number of breakthrough years.
That man is Polish-born prop Mikolaj Oledzki who has become one of Leeds Rhinos’ most important forwards in recent seasons.
The hulking forward has been in inspired form in 2022, helping the West Yorkshire club into the play-offs following a dismal start to the season.
And, for former Leeds and ex-Wigan Warriors prop Barrie McDermott, Oledzki is an incredible player, lauding huge praise on the Rhinos man.
“He is one of the best in the world I think he is absolutely exceptional. It is scary to think he is only 24,” McDermott said live on Sky Sports.
“I think he has ripped teams apart this year. He is resilient and tough.”
Oledzki will arguably be just as important for Shaun Wane if he is given a chance by the former Wigan boss for the World Cup.
With St Helens forward Alex Walmsley out for the competition at the end of the year, it will be interesting to see what direction Wane will go in, but Oledzki will surely be earning a phone call.
