Sam is an experienced sports writer, initially covering NFL and football, before transitioning towards rugby league. After leaving university and opting into volunteer work within the community during the COVID-19 pandemic, he began writing about the sports he loved in late 2022. That saw him quickly transition from working for the sports tipping blog Behind The Odds to covering both the Wheelchair and Women’s World Cup Finals for Serious About Rugby League. He also served as a writer for The Leeds Press, acting as their Leeds Rhinos editor. Since then Sam has become an RFL-accredited journalist and has served as deputy editor for Serious About Rugby League since early 2023. During that time he has interviewed some of rugby league’s biggest names, including ex-Leeds Rhinos player turned pundit Barrie McDermott, producing exclusive articles along the way.
