Ata Hingano puts Super League clubs on red alert following Salford departure

Ata Hingano has put Super League clubs on red alert after declaring he will be leaving the Salford Red Devils.

The Tongan halfback only joined the Red Devils back in the summer on a short deal, but with the option of a two-year contract if all parties were happy.

The 24-year-old was playing in the Intrust Super Cup for the Mackay Cutters, registering just a single appearance in 2020 before COVID-19 ended the season prematurely.

Part of the Tonga squad that went all the way to the 2017 World Cup semi-finals where they were narrowly defeated by England, Hingano will surely not be short of suitors.

The halfback had suffered a medial ligament in the Magic Weekend defeat to Castleford Tigers.

Hingano’s partner tweeted: Thank you @SalfordDevils for bringing us to the UK this year. Unfortunately Ata’s contract has come to an end. We look forward to 2022 at a new club hopefully in the UK as we both love it here.”
