April is looking like a tough month for many Super League sides, with the top five teams facing each other and repeats of the Challenge Cup quarter-finals in the league.
It’s the same case for the sides in the bottom half as one side going on a run could easily catapult them up the table.
Rounds seven to nine look set to be full of tricky fixtures for every side and several sides are facing injuries to key men too following last week’s Cup games.
Here’s a closer look at each side’s fixture list for April and our verdict on how they’ll do.
Which Super League side has the toughest April run-in?
Hull KR
Wigan Warriors (H), Hull FC (A), Leeds Rhinos (A)
Super League’s leaders Hull KR are still unbeaten but can they continue that form into April? Hosting Wigan could be their biggest challenge yet then another trip across the city to face Hull FC. With a hurting Hull FC side after their 36-12 Challenge Cup defeat, it could be a closer game than the previous one. A trip to Leeds rounds out the month but with a potential injury to Mikey Lewis looming over the squad, they might have to make do without him.
Hull FC
Warrington Wolves (A), Hull KR (H), Wigan Warriors (H)
It’s looking like a tough April, facing three of the top five sides, which will be a test for Hull FC. Travelling across to Warrington is never an easy trip, especially with significant injuries to their forward pack. Jordan Lane and Ed Chamberlain went off in their Cup loss and Brad Fash tore a calf muscle in training on Friday, joining Jed Cartwright, Ligi Sao and Oliver Holmes on the sidelines. Two home games follow with Hull KR and then Wigan, it doesn’t get any easier for Hull FC following a strong start to 2025.
Wigan Warriors
Hull KR (A), St Helens (H), Hull FC (A)
Wigan face two trips to Hull in April, facing Hull KR this Friday before travelling to Hull FC at the end of the month. Neither of those trips will be easy, especially with the loud home support for both Hull sides. In between the Hull sandwich is a Good Friday game against St Helens. It’s another sell-out for the Warriors at the Brick Community Stadium and with both sides now out of the Challenge Cup, all their focus is now on Super League.
St Helens
Wakefield Trinity (H), Wigan Warriors (A), Warrington Wolves (A)
Two tough away trips face St Helens in April as they travel to local rivals Wigan and Warrington. Before that, they face Wakefield at home on Friday evening. A Good Friday clash against their old foes Wigan looks set to be a marquee fixture of the round before they make the trip over to the Halliwell Jones Stadium again for the final game against the Wolves in a trilogy across a six-week period.
Warrington Wolves
Hull FC (H), Leigh Leopards (A), St Helens (H)
Warrington are another side with very little travel to do in April with two home ties and a short trip up to Leigh. Facing Hull FC at home will be a tricky tie after the away side’s Cup exit but Warrington have looked impressive since Marc Sneyd’s arrival. An away fixture against Leigh follows and that’s never a fixture without a challenge. The Wolves finish April by hosting St Helens again, the third game in six weeks against the same opposition.
Leigh Leopards
Castleford Tigers (A), Warrington Wolves (H), Salford Red Devils (A)
April could be the month that Leigh climb the table. With the top five sides taking points off each other, Leigh are more than capable of getting three wins from three games this month. Head coach Adrian Lam should be targeting at least four points, if not six, from April with trips to Castleford and Salford and a match-up against Warrington over the Easter weekend. With two Super League losses on the bounce and a draw against Hull FC before that, they need to start getting those points on the board again.
Leeds Rhinos
Salford Red Devils (A), Huddersfield Giants (H), Hull KR (H)
Another side that will be targeting a successful April should be Leeds. A trip to Salford on Thursday night following a week off should be the perfect opportunity to improve their points difference as well as hosting Huddersfield over Easter. If they can get four points across those two games, playing Hull KR at home should give them a bit more confidence, with only the league to focus on for the Rhinos now.
Wakefield Trinity
St Helens (A), Castelford Tigers (H), Catalans Dragons (A)
Two tough away trips Wakefield are faced with in April to St Helens and Catalans Dragons. Both sides are starting to pick up some momentum in 2025 so it will be a big ask for Trinity. A home tie for Easter against Castleford should be a fixture that they’re eyeballing as a necessary two points. Injuries to Oliver Russell and Matty Russell could mean depleted troops for coach Daryl Powell.
Catalans Dragons
Huddersfield Giants (A), Salford Red Devils (H), Wakefield Trinity (A)
Catalans also have two away trips in April but both are winnable games for them. Huddersfield are still without a point and Wakefield remain winless at home in 2025. The Dragons host Salford again following their 20-12 victory in the Cup last week and it’s another game they should be targeting to win. However, with Nick Cotric’s groin injury and Sam Tomkins having a rib issue, they’ll need to shuffle around their squad.
Castleford Tigers
Leigh Leopards (H), Wakefield Trinity (A), Huddersfield Giants (A)
Castleford are one of the sides with the least amount of travel in April staying in West Yorkshire for the month. First, they host Leigh, which is arguably the toughest game of April, before trips t Wakefield and Huddersfield. Boss Danny McGuire should be looking at both trips as must-win games as they aim to close the two-point gap to Catalans above them.
Salford Red Devils
Leeds Rhinos (H), Catalans Dragons (A), Leigh Leopards (H)
It’s not getting any easier for Salford regardless of their financial issues still. Playing Leeds and Leigh at home and facing another trip to Catalans on top of all the squad problems coach Paul Rowley makes April another month of Salford struggles. They also face losing even more players in April due to salary cap restrictions so the Red Devils will just be taking it one fixture at a time.
Huddersfield Giants
Catalans Dragons (H), Leeds Rhinos (A), Castleford Tigers (H)
The Giants need to pick up some points in Super League sooner rather than later so is April the month they finally do? Huddersfield play Catalans at home on Sunday afternoon before travelling to Leeds at Easter. A home tie against Castleford at the end of the month could be a wooden spoon decider even this early on but less travel in April can only be a positive for the Giants.
