Disciplinary: Ashworth wins appeal and Baitieri’s ban halved

St Helens forward Jack Ashworth has been named in St Helens’ squad to face Leeds on Friday after winning his one-match ban appeal.

Ashworth was given a Grade B charge for a high tackle on Oliver Russell in Saints victory against Huddersfield last weekend.

But after appealing against the severity of the ban, the young forward is now free to play as the grading was reduced to Grade A.

Meanwhile, Jason Baitieri, who was cited for Grade C Dangerous Contact, has had his suspension halved.

He was initially handed a two-match ban for the offence but on appeal that has been reduced to Grade B and a one-match ban.

Baitieri will therefore sit out Saturday’s clash against Hull FC but will return for the Dragons visit to Leeds a week on Sunday.
